We provide the appropriate cut sheet for you to choose what kind of cuts you would like, how thick, pounds per package etc.
Where is my beef and chicken coming from?
All our beef is farm raised. While we are still growing our herd, we have partnered with other local family farms who also raise beef for us. We only work with reputable farms that are like ours and practice the same ethical farming style. Our day-old meat chicks come from a reputable hatchery down south that are delivered to New Liskeard where we pick them up.
How is our beef fed and finished?
We supplement with grain for a minimum of 90 days before processing. The beef also receives minerals and vitamins which increases the marbling and flavor of the meat. Our network of farmers that we partnered with also finish the same way.
Fun fact: Did you know that grains are the edible seeds of certain grasses? Wheat, rye, barley, oats, corn and more are plants in the grass family.
Do you practice humane animal care?
Absolutely! That is the focus of our farm. We prioritize the well-being and quality of life of our animals. We aim to provide everything they need so they have a comfortable, low-stress life.
Do you have delivery options?
We currently offer free delivery on bulk orders of half and whole beef from Kirkland Lake to North Bay and anywhere in between.
Are you outside of our travel area but still want to buy our products? Just get in touch with us to see what we can do for you!
For smaller orders please inquire about the delivery fee. HST is applicable.
What are Speckle Park cattle? Never heard of them before.
Speckle Park cattle are Canadian! They were developed in the province of Saskatchewan in 1959 by combining Aberdeen Angus, Teeswater Shorthorn and White Park cattle. They were only the second breed of beef cattle in Canada to be granted distinct breed status.
They are known for their high-quality carcass, efficient feed conversion and their meat quality. On top of all that their color patterns are unique, great to look at and sure stand out in a crowd!
Do you use steroids or growth hormones for the animals?
No animals on our farm ever receive artificial growth hormones or steroids. We do not treat our animals with antibiotics unless necessary. If an animal does become sick and we are unable to treat with alternative methods, we will treat the animal with antibiotics advised by our veterinarians. We will not let our animals suffer for any reason. We are committed to transparency and will disclose treatment history if we sell the meat.
How Do I Order
You can call, text, email, write us through our social media pages or even order online through our new “shop products” section on our website. For bulk beef orders, if you contact us, we will be able to let you know the estimated wait time
How is our chicken raised?
We get our meat birds as day old chicks from a reputable hatchery down south. They are shipped to our local feed store for us to pick up. They stay in our barn under heat lamps with food and water until they grow their adult feathers at about 3-3.5 weeks old. Once that happens, then they are upgraded to our chicken tractor outside where they are moved daily to fresh grass until they are ready to be processed. Raised with no steroids, growth hormones or antibiotics.
During the cold months are chickens are raised in our heated barn listening to some great tunes.
How long is your beef aged for?
We dry age our beef for 21 days.
If you’re unfamiliar with it, the dry-aging process is done at the at the processing facility. It involves hanging the beef carcass in a refrigerator which allows the natural enzymes to break down the connective tissue, which results in tenderness. The process also causes moisture to evaporate, intensifying the beefy flavour and creating the unique taste that we all love.
How long can meat be kept in freezer?
Because we get all our meat vacuum sealed it can easily last 2 years in the freezer if there’s no holes in the packaging.
What type of beef do you raise?
We raise registered Speckle Park and Angus cattle on our farm. We also have commercial cattle of the two breeds. Our network of local farmers who also raise beef for us are mostly Angus cattle with some Simmental or a cross. All are very good beef breeds.
Where/ How is your meat processed and packaged?
All our meat is processed and packaged at our abattoir which is a government approved and inspected facility. All our products come vacuum sealed
